Big Spring Water has been bottling fresh, spring water straight from the Big Snowy Mountains in central Montana since 1966. We are proudly owned by Lehrkinds Distributing, a company who has been in the beverage business in Montana since 1895. Big Spring Water is bottled by Blue Water Works LLC in Lewistown, Montana.
Pristine Montana Spring Water
Our water is collected from a mineral-infused spring 1200 feet beneath the Big Snowy Mountains, producing 90 million gallons a day. This naturally-mineral infused spring water travels up through multiple layers of limestone to a protected pipeline, where it is then transported into our Lewistown bottling facility.
Natural Mineral Content
Unlike many other popular bottled water products, our water is not a product of reverse osmosis or aero treatment, but rather contains naturally occurring minerals that come directly from the spring, giving our spring water its fresh and pristine straight-from-the-mountain taste. You can taste the difference!
Big Spring Water undergoes extensive FDA-approved lab testing to ensure the quality remains unchanged from year to year. As required, ozone—an oxygen gas that prevents bacteria and viruses from forming—is added at the Lewistown plant to ensure that our water is preserved for a long shelf life. pH verification tests are run every two hours at our plant and bacteria testing occurs on a weekly basis. Our lab in Billings also conducts annual tests on all the minerals that are in the water to double check it is clear of any pesticides, herbicides, or other contaminants.
We are excited to announce the launch of our first infinitely recyclable water bottle! This 22 oz. recyclable and resealable aluminum bottle is now available at convenience and grocery stores around the state. Metal recycles forever so we are pretty darn excited about being able to offer our customers this earth-friendly bottle containing our always pristine, naturally mineral-infused spring water.
Additionally, in an effort to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated from bottled water, Big Spring Water has reduced the number of smaller, individual serving bottles it packages and instead encourages the use of reusable 3 and 5-gallon jugs for consumers and businesses. Our bottles are also shipped in reusable crates.

Why is our name green on our liter bottles? Because Big Spring Water is a proud sponsor of Montana 4-H, the largest, out-of-school youth development program in the state, reaching nearly 20,000 youth in all 56 counties each year. When you buy our 12-packs and 24-packs, and any of our liter bottles, you are helping support this wonderful youth organization with a long history in Montana.
